Canterbury Operatic Society has been performing shows and concerts in the Canterbury area for over 100 years.

Four of our recent productions  were awarded Accolades of Excellence by NODA South East and we aim to build on this standard with each new performance.

Whether you like performing or prefer to be out of the limelight doing vital work backstage or front of house, we welcome new members warmly.  Please get in contact!

Our recent productions have all been well received. These have included Singin' in the Rain (2016), The Pirates of Penzance (2015), Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (2014), Anything Goes (2013) and Guys and Dolls (2012), all at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.  Before this, we performed at the Gulbenkian theatre on the University of Kent's Canterbury campus for three years, with productions of Into the Woods (2011), The Pajama Game (2010) and The Pirates of Penzance (2009).

About us

The Mikado is coming! We will be performing Gilbert and Sullivan's brilliant comedy at the Marlowe Theatre in April 2017. Booking details coming soon!

Want to get involved? We are just getting started. You would be welcome to come along to rehearsal at 7.30pm on Friday 21st October at All Saints Church Hall, Military Road, Canterbury (postcode CT1 1PA). All are welcome, newcomers and long-serving members alike!

We recently completed a well-received run of Singin' in the Rain, at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Our NODA review is very enthusiastic about the production.  Here's a taste of the show in the form of some of our performance photos by photographer Matthew Ebbage.
