Canterbury Operatic Society has been performing shows and concerts in the Canterbury area for over 100 years.

Whether you like performing or prefer to be out of the limelight doing vital work backstage or front of house, we welcome new members warmly.  Please get in contact!

Four of our recent productions have been awarded Accolades of Excellence by NODA South East and we aim to build on this standard with each new performance.

Productions at the redeveloped Marlowe Theatre have been The Mikado (2017), Singin' in the Rain (2016), The Pirates of Penzance (2015), Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (2014), Anything Goes (2013) and Guys and Dolls (2012). We also perform concerts and hold social events.

Our most recent production: The Mikado. A very British musical!

Sad news - we were very sad to learn of the death of Doug Goddard over the Christmas period. Doug had been a member of Canterbury Operatic Society for many years and had given many memorable performances in our shows and concerts.  He was also an incredibly warm, welcoming and encouraging man, who was a friend and inspiration to many of us. He continued to be a friend and supporter of the Society after retiring from performances, and will be much missed.

We have been informed that his funeral will be held at Barham Crematorium at 12.40 on 23rd January if those who knew him would like to attend to pay their respects.
