Canterbury Operatic Society has been performing shows and concerts in the Canterbury area for over 100 years.

Four of our recent productions  were awarded Accolades of Excellence by NODA South East and we aim to build on this standard with each new performance.

Whether you like performing or prefer to be out of the limelight doing vital work backstage or front of house, we welcome new members warmly.  Please get in contact!

Our recent productions have all been well received. These have included the Gilbert and Sullivan classic, The Pirates of Penzance (2015), Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (2014), Anything Goes (2013) and Guys and Dolls (2012), all at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.  Before this, we performed at the Gulbenkian theatre on the University of Kent's Canterbury campus for three years, with productions of Into the Woods (2011), The Pajama Game (2010) and The Pirates of Penzance (2009).

About us

Rehearsals are well under way for our exciting upcoming production of Singin' in the Rain, to be performed at the Marlowe Theatre in May.

Based on one of the best-regarded film musicals of all time, this is a classic show which we are sure you will love! Featuring all the timeless songs such as 'Good Morning', 'Make 'Em Laugh', 'You Are My Lucky Star' and of course a whole load of water accompanying 'Singin' in the Rain'.

Join us at the Marlowe Theatre from 10th-14th May 2016 as we revisit the early days of Hollywood alongside hilarious characters and bucket-loads of fun. Tickets start at  £15 (£13.50 on Tuesday evening)- available from the Marlowe Theatre Box Office.
