Canterbury Operatic Society has been performing shows and concerts in the Canterbury area for over 100 years.
Whether you like performing or prefer to be out of the limelight doing vital work backstage or front of house, we welcome new members warmly. Please get in contact!
Four of our recent productions (The Pirates of Penzance, The Pajama Game and Into the Woods from 2009-2011 and Sweeney Todd from 2014) were awarded Accolades of Excellence by NODA South East and our 2017 production of The Mikado was awarded Best Traditional Musical. We aim to build on this standard with each new performance.
Productions at the redeveloped Marlowe Theatre have been Oklahoma! (2018), The Mikado (2017), Singin' in the Rain (2016), The Pirates of Penzance (2015), Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd (2014), Anything Goes (2013) and Guys and Dolls (2012). We also perform concerts and hold social events.
Our 2018 show was Oklahoma!, which ran from 12th-14th April 2018 at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury. Click the show logo for more info about this production.
Our 2019 show will be My Fair Lady, which will be performed at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury from 30th April to 4th May. A classic show including many well-loved songs. We know it'll be loverly...

We are looking for a few more men to join our ensemble for My Fair Lady. Please contact us if you'd like to join in! Rehearsals are Tuesday and Friday evenings (Fridays are normally ensemble nights), with some Sundays closer to the show (30th April-4th May 2019 at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury).
As always, newcomers and old hands all equally welcome.
