Canterbury Operatic Society has been performing shows and concerts in the Canterbury area for over 100 years.
Three of our recent productions - The Pirates of Penzance, The Pajama Game and Into the Woods (all at the Gulbenkian Theatre) were awarded Accolades of Excellence by NODA South East and we aim to build on this standard with each new performance.
Whether you like performing or prefer to be out of the limelight doing vital work backstage or front of house, we welcome new members warmly. Please get in contact!

We recently completed a run of Sweeney Todd at the Marlowe Theatre. This much acclaimed musical (winner of many stage and screen awards including the Tony, the Olivier and the Golden Globe) had never been performed at the Marlowe before.
Describing the show, Society President Paul Hendy said "I thoroughly enjoyed Sweeney Todd at the Marlowe. COS have surpassed themselves with this production. Powerful performances, excellent vocals and strong, tight direction makes this a show not to be missed. Congratulations to everyone involved." See the Sweeney Todd page for more reactions.
